Kakaibang Klaseng Pagbabalita

Reader jjian_ph was demanding for a “concrete evidence” to prove the alleged affair.

jjian_ph commented: “All of you seem to like listening to rumors (mga tsismosa’t tsimoso). You all don’t know what will be the effect of your stupidity, and it only shows that you all want to destroy a happy family, that of the Pacquiaos.

“Our hero is truly famous and gave honor to our country but it seems that all of you are not happy. You’re all sick and don’t know how to appreciate the honor that Manny Pacquiao have given us Filipinos.”

Another reader, Psylom, also backed the people’s champ crab mentality remark.

“Huwag masyadong magpapaniwala sa mga tsismis. Huwag magpapadala sa mga sulatin na exaggerated. Tanggalin natin ang crab mentality. ‘Yon ang pangit na ugali ng Pinoy,” said Psylom.

Rag927 also lambasted those who are snooping into his private life.

Legarda vs. legarda (“Vice Presidential” Case of Capitalization) Part 5

In my previous entries, I documented some of what I believe were improper capitalizations of acronyms. Today, I spot another one. The last name of Senator Loren Legarda was written in lower case: legarda. See the following screenshot of the Michael Lim Ubac article: Villar takes potshots at Aquino, cooes to legarda

Legarda v. legarda capitalization issue part 5

Legarda v. legarda capitalization issue part 5

I am sure this is just a typo.

I am not alone

… other reporters are suffering from grammar issues as well …

Purple Romero of ABS-CBN writes in her “Villar to announce tandem with Loren” report:

MANILA-(1st UPDATE)-Senators Manuel ‘Manny’ Villar of the Nacionalista Party (NP) and Senator Loren Legarda of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) are set to announce their team-up for the 2010 elections on Tuesday afternoon, sources told ABS-CBN News.

Life must go on…

Gay party ‘immoral’

“Gay party is immoral.” That is the Comelec ruling against Ladlad as reported by Karen Servando, in her article entitled: “Comelec says gay party “immortal”".

I am embarrassed by this decision. Honestly, I cannot believe that Comelec has used religious arguments to dismiss a very valid petition for accreditation by Ladlad.

For the record, I do not agree with the Comelec ruling that Ladlad or anyone who is by nature or nurture becomes part of GLBT community is a threat to the youth.

Shame on You, Comelec!
Ladlad, please take this Case to the Supreme Court! Please.

Balikbayan Report

I have never thought that someone would actually try to send fresh fruits, vegetables and steak to their Filipino relatives using balikbayan boxes.

Lolita Iganda, who was described by Gigi Grande as veteran when it comes to sending boxes to the Philippines, was quoted saying:

“When I went back home before I saw that the garlic in Baguio was so expensive so when I came back I bought 5 kilos of garlic and put it in my box. When it reached my parents they complained. Nabulok and it affected everything in the box”

Oh well! Read the other tips in “Pinay shares tips on sending gifts, packages for Christmas

Thanks, Gigi Grande for the reminders.

Publicity and Popularity

Brendan Behan once said “all publicity is good, except for obituary notice!”

If that is the case, presidentiables Noynoy Aquino and Richard Gordon should send ABS-CBN thank you cards for their free publicities. Carmela Fonbuena writes in her article Noynoy does an “Obama,” taps new media how Aquino is trying to get some “pogi points” using the internet. Presidential Richard Gordon on the other hand was mentioned in the article written by Purple Romero, (UPDATE 4) Blue Ribbon seeks probe vs Arroyo, raps vs FG for NBN-ZTE deal as Blue Ribbon Committee chair.

Let us see, if tomorrow, they will be in front page again of the news website.

Dindo Amparo reporting Bro. Eddie’s allegations

In the 11/08/2009 article of Dindo Amparo entitled “Bro. Eddie: Poll ratings manipulated by survey, media companies” he reported Bro. Eddie’s claim that media and survey companies have been manipulating the poll ratings. In his own word he said:

Villanueva, in an interview with ABS-CBN Middle East Bureau, said his name was not being included in the list of presidential aspirants in surveys conducted in various provinces.

I want to thank Dindo Amparo. This report may open up a dialogue and possible investigation. This is a very important.

Listen Press Secretary Cerge Remonde, Listen.

Dear Press Secretary Cerge Remonde,

In Williard Cheng’s 11/07/2009  article: “Will Arroyo give Jalosjos absolute pardon“, he writes:

Although Malacanang has not made any direct statement on the matter, Remonde implied that Jalosjos may have a hard time getting Mrs. Arroyo’s approval, especially since what he did was a crime against women.

“The President is always first a woman, and second, president. Hindi maiwawaksi ang kanyang pagkababae sa kanyang pagkapresidente,” Remonde said. With a report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News

I feel that there is something wrong with your way of reasoning. You indicated, or your statement was understood by Williard Cheng to imply that the Jalosjos will have hard time getting the President’s pardon on two accounts, because (1) that the President is a “woman” and that (2) Jalosjos committed a crime against women.
