Philip Tubeza, I am giving you “two thumbs up”

For the introduction of his your article Comelec: Many gays in Congress; no need for Ang Ladlad, I am giving him two thumbs up. In the report he writes:

MANILA, Philippines—Will the gays in Congress please stand up? Claiming that gays and lesbians were already well-represented in Congress, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Nicodemus Ferrer Monday defended the poll body’s decision to deny Ang Ladlad’s petition to run as a party-list group in the May 2010 elections.

Just plain funny. :P

Comelec needs some lecture (On Religious Ground)

November 12, 2009 1 comment

In its seven page ruling against Ang Ladlad,  this Holier than Thou Commission on Election (Comelec) ruled:

This definition of the LGBT sector makes it crystal clear that petitioner tolerates immorality which offends religious beliefs.

In Romans 1:26, 27, Paul wrote:”For this cause God gave them up into vile affections: for even their women did change the naturaluse into that which is against nature: And likewise alsothe men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned intheir lust one toward another; men with men workingthat which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet”.

In the Koran, the hereunder verses are pertinent:”For ye practice your lusts on men in preference towomen ” ye are indeed a people transgressing beyondbounds.”(7.81). “And we rained down on them a shower(of brimstone): Then see what was the end of those whoindulged in sin and crime!” (7:84) “He said: “0 my Lord!Help Thou me against people who domischief!”"(29:30).”‘~

Let me share this to people from the Holier than Thou Commission on Election. This is a part of a summary from fourth edition of “The Elemets of Moral Philosophy” written by James Rachels:

Right and wrong are not to be defined in terms of God’s will; morality is a matter of reason and conscience, not religous faithl and in any case, religious condierations do not provide definitive solutions ot the specific moral problems that confront us.  Morality and religion are , in a word, different.

Comelec, let me ask you these questions. In your ruling, why did not take into consideration some religious groups which do not condemn homosexual activities or homosexuality such as United Church of Christ, or any other liberal Christian groups? Why did you prefer using the Bible and the Koran. Did you not know that even the Bible and the Koran differ in some sections, perceptions and treatment of some moral and religious issues?

Quoting Paul, The Bible and The Koran, no offense, but how would you even explain your positions to a bunch of atheists?

Honestly, Comelec, I believe you have some growing up to do!

Gay party ‘immoral’

“Gay party is immoral.” That is the Comelec ruling against Ladlad as reported by Karen Servando, in her article entitled: “Comelec says gay party “immortal”".

I am embarrassed by this decision. Honestly, I cannot believe that Comelec has used religious arguments to dismiss a very valid petition for accreditation by Ladlad.

For the record, I do not agree with the Comelec ruling that Ladlad or anyone who is by nature or nurture becomes part of GLBT community is a threat to the youth.

Naiiyak ako sa kainisan. Nasusuka ako sa ruling na ito ng Comelec

Shame on You, Comelec!
Ladlad, please take this Case to the Supreme Court! Please.
